When I walk into a well designed space, I notice the following:
Accessibility
Perfect balance of function and form
Thoughtful use of lighting
Personality
Sustainability
It promotes wellness
Serves it's intended purpose(s)
Every well designed space shares these elements in common. In my day to day life I am astounded at the creativity that goes into building and decorating an amazing home. But there is one thing often missing in the process of design, and that is mindfulness. This is where I come in.
I've made it my life mission to be a problem solver. Sometimes we may love our home, or office, or place of business, but we know we could be getting more out of it. Putting in the time, work and consideration to create smart solutions to challenges within a space is what I'd love to do for every client. I have seen first hand how life changing it is when you're able to say that home is your favorite place to be.
Turning interior design into a career wasn't something I decided to do until my late twenties, after I'd lived and experienced a little bit more life and then realized the impact I could make in the lives of others.
I have dedicated the last two years into learning all the ins and outs of the design business: the latest advancements of sustainability and green living; what to consider when aging in place; how to understand the needs of my clients; budgets and timelines for complex renovation projects; and knowing where the industry is headed, so I can stay one step ahead in the future of trends. One aspect that goes into being a successful designer, however, can't be taught in a university - and that is having a creative knack for what looks and feels good when it comes to architectural design.
Something that's helped me throughout this process of earning my interior design degree is my professional background in global logistics, supply chain, and project management. Taking on a new construction project or home renovation is no small endeavor, so it's important to have someone who knows the importance of managing all the moving parts from start to finish, focuses on the minor details, and is always looking at the end goal.
